I am currently working on a complete rebuild of a sad old Rhodes that had been harvested for parts over the years. I am currently in the disassembly stage.
Even though it is an electric piano, rebuilding a Rhodes has a lot of similar techniques as rebuilding an acoustic piano. The action is essentially a rudimentary piano action (very similar to a Viennese style action from the fortepianos of the late 1700s) with hammers striking amplified tines instead of strings.
I’ll keep you updated on my progress with it!
