I have been offered a temporary job at the UBC Sch I have been offered a temporary job at the UBC School of Music to fill in for the head piano technician Scott Harker for six months. I’ll be in Vancouver until the end of June!

I am very excited about the opportunity. They have 90 pianos, 5 Steinway concert grands and three concert venues including the Chan Centre!

I am now officially a Registered Piano Technician I am now officially a Registered Piano Technician through the @pianotechniciansguild . I am pictured here with Atsundo Aikawa who was the lead examiner in my final tuning exam. I did this final stage at the Guild’s National Convention in Washington DC. Even though I did the Piano Technology Certificate at UWO in 2009, I recently decided to do the RPT as well, because it’s never ending learning in this trade. Thank you to all the technicians who have been teaching and mentoring me along the way, I have learned so much!

On my way to tune for a concert in Trail the pass On my way to tune for a concert in Trail the pass was closed for a couple of hours for avalanche blasting. The musicians I was tuning for were also in the line of cars and started practicing on the side of the road! The principals from @orchestredelagora and the conductor @nicolas_ellis_camus are on tour performing string quartet and piano quintet repertoire. Amazing players and a beautiful day in the mountains!

I recently returned from LA where I spent some tim I recently returned from LA where I spent some time at Cal State Long Beach learning from two incredible technicians, PTG instructors, and wonderful people: Susan Babcock and Kathy Smith. Also pictured here: The pristine Steinway Ds at Long Beach, Walt Disney Concert Hall (Michael Tilson Thomas, Messiaen!!) and of course the beach.
last year i was in LA and was lucky enough to be p last year i was in LA and was lucky enough to be part of this live show with @sikoracat, @vinnygolia, @celery_omelette, @patrickshiroishi and @nickskrowaczewski. i tuned the piano in just intonation and did some tuning hammer pitch bending. it was at helmel, val kilmer’s art space.
the music from that day is out now through @fortevilfruit! various combos ending in a sextet with all of us.
